The early front runner for the Republican gubernatorial nomination is Christopher J. Christie, the corruption-busting United States Attorney. He received more attention this week announcing the indictment of Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero — the latest in a string of indictments and convictions of prominent political leaders from both parties.
Christie's problem is that New York and Philadelphia TV don't give enough play to federal prosecutors from New Jersey. Despite six years in office and a 100% conviction/plea rate in corruption cases, 60% of voters don't know who he is. The FDU poll has his favorable/unfavorable at 20%-5%, which means more people know Dick Zimmer than Chris Christie.
