As of last spring, the Manhattan social set began to whisper that the marriage of Larry and Denise Wohl, parents of headbanded socialite Arden, was over. Recently, Mr. Wohl, a real estate developer, has been seen about town with another woman.
“Supposedly, he’s been seeing some woman for a while, but I don’t think it’s anybody in the crowd,” said a longtime acquaintance of the couple. “I know [Denise Wohl] isn’t very happy about it. It doesn’t seem like an amicable thing.”
“I would not say that he has a girlfriend, but he was there with a woman,” said another family friend, who recently ran into Mr. Wohl at a private party at the Plaza. When reached by the Transom, Mr. Wohl said, “We’re just separated right now,” adding that it is “a very personal matter.” (The Transom was unable to reach Denise Wohl for comment.)
New York society chronicler David Patrick Columbia recently wrote on his Web site, New York Social Diary, that the Wohls’ marriage “is either kaput or badly in need of refurbishment.”
“People always think the grass is greener on the other side,” Mr. Columbia told the Transom. “But they don’t realize that in the end it’s just grass. It’s just the same grass.”
