Christie Whitman was appointed Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency by President George H.W. Bush.
She served as a Somerset County Freeholder, as President of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, and as a two-term Governor of New Jersey.
Whitman is the last Republican to win a statewide election in New Jersey.
