The city’s ever-wasteful nightlife industry toasts its first eco-friendly venue tonight during a private opening party at Greenhouse in Soho, according to the boozy blog Down By The Hipster.

Back in July, The Observer‘s Gillian Reagan spoke with Greenhouse operator Jon Bakhshi about his vision for the space, located at 150 Varick Street:

…guests dancing on flooring made from recyclable material. Gyrating ladies, with their blown-out hair and glittery tops, will shimmer under low-voltage lights. Guys, lounging on buttery couches made from recyclable material, will sip on organic alcohol mixed with fresh juices….The toilets? They’d flush efficiently.
