Lampitt won’t seek Adler Senate seat

Assemblywoman Pam Lampitt is privately telling friends that she will not seek the 6th district State Senate seat that will be vacated by Congressman-elect John Adler. Lampitt, entering herfourth year in the Assembly, has a strong relationship with Speaker Joe Roberts and sources suggest she wouldbe a frontrunner for a committeechairmanship next session.

Lampitt’s running mate, Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Louis Greenwald, has also decided against running for the Senate. Some Democrats believe Adler’s seat could go to South Jersey AFL-CIO President Donald Norcross, the brother of one of the state’s most powerful Democrats.
