The Film Society of Lincoln Center is performing an invaluable service for cinephiles and film lovers generally by screening a series of classic works by our homegrown New Wave American master, Martin Scorsese. The series launches Friday, Dec. 26, and features Goodfellas (1990), with Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, Joe Pesci, Lorraine Bracco, Paul Sorvino, Frank Sivero, Tony Darrow, Mike Starr, Frank Vincent, Chuck Low, Frank DiLeo, Christopher Serrone, Samuel L. Jackson, Henny Youngman, Jerry Vale, Debi Mazar, Kevin Corrigan, Michael Imperioli and Illeanna Douglas, at 8:45. It will also show Saturday, Dec. 27, at 5:30, and Monday, Dec. 29 at 4:20.

Casino (1995) follows, with Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, Joe Pesci, James Woods, Don Rickles, Alan King, Kevin Pollak, L. Q. Jones, Dick Smothers, Frank Vincent, Melissa Prophet and John Bloom, on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 8:30. It shows again on Monday, Dec. 29, at 1.

The documentaries Italianamerican (1974) and American Boy: A Profile of Stephen Prince (1978) will show on Saturday the 27th and Tuesday the 30th at 3:15.

The King of Comedy (1982), with Robert De Niro, Jerry Lewis, Diahnne Abbott, Sandra Bernhard, Shelley Hack, Tony Randall, Ed Herlihy and Frederick De Cordova, screens on Sunday, Dec. 28, at 6:45, and Tuesday the 30th at 1.

Mean Streets (1973), with Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel, David Proval, Amy Robinson, Ceasare Danova, Richard Romanus, George Memmoli and Robert Carradine, shows Friday, Dec. 26, at 3:50 and Tuesday, Dec. 30, at  5:30.

New York, New York (1977), with Robert De Niro, Liza Minnelli, Lionel Stander, Georgie Auld, Mary Kay Place, George Memmoli, Barry Primus, Dick Miller and Diahnne Abbott, shows Sunday the 28th at 3:45 and Wednesday the 31st at 3:30 and 8:45.

No Direction Home (2005), Scorsese’s Bob Dylan doc, shows Sunday the 28th at noon and Tuesday the 30th at 7:45.

Taxi Driver (1976), with Robert De Niro, Cybill Shepherd, Harvey Keitel, Peter Boyle, Jodie Foster, Albert Brooks, Leonard Harris, Joe Spinell and Martin Scorsese, screens Saturday, Dec 27, at 1; Sunday, Dec. 28, at 9; and Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 6:30.

Raging Bull (1980), with Robert De Niro, Cathy Moriarty, Joe Pesci, Frank Vincent, Nicholas Colasanto, Theresa Saldana and John Turturro, shows Friday the 26th at 6:15; Monday the 29th at 9:10 p.m.; and Wednesday the 31st at 1.
