That new law requires law enforcement officials to enter warrants for probation violations into a statewide database within 48 hours of issuance, and courts must address reported violations within 72 hours.

Paterson also signed the last bill passed by the State Senate under Republican control, a measure to standardize regulation of accountants.

The other seven measures were technical changes to the law or local bills.
