Academy Award nominations are announced next week, but you can get a jump on your office’s Oscar pool today by checking out the likely Best Screenplay nominees (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road, Slumdog Millionaire), all available, in their entirety, at SimplyScripts.
The website features hundreds of free, downloadable screenplays — from current releases like Gran Torino (by Nick Schenk) to the 1958 shooting script for North by Northwest (by Ernest Lehman). Better yet, SimplyScripts includes early iterations of films that were badly butchered on their way to the multiplex. (Hancock, which began life as a pitch-black comedy called Tonight, He Comes, is an especially sad case.)
