South Dakotans have very little use for yoga instructors. That’s at least according StateStats – an edifying app that shows who’s been Googling what, and from where, across the country.
See, state-by-state, what the most popular search queries are, and how they correlate with data from the U.S. Census Bureau (eg. obesity, income, violent crime). Looking for ‘Chevy Tahoe’ (#1 in Mississippi), appears to be linked with voting for Bush in ’04, while ‘Toyota Prius’ seekers (California) generally went with Obama this year. Residents of Maine topped the search for ‘chocolate labs.’ West Virginia: ‘meth labs.’ And Hawaiians just love ‘tofu’ (and Obama) and have the highest life expectancy. A connection? You make the call.
