Here’s more detail on what Michael Bloomberg said about supporting David Paterson for governor in 2010.
At the press conference this morning, I asked Bloomberg if he thought Rudy Giuliani would make a better governor than Paterson, a Democrat.
Giuliani, a Republican, has been lobbying Republican county chairs on Bloomberg’s behalf this week.
“I don’t think you can do those kinds of comparisons,” Bloomberg said, before adding, “Right now, I’m supporting David Paterson.”
Here’s the transcript of his remarks:
“Um, I don’t think you can do those kinds of comparisons, number one, because you’re talking about way down the road, and right now, I’m supporting David Paterson. I’m going to do everything I can to help David Paterson the best governor that we have ever had, and I hope that he will be. And if you don’t think that he should be the best governor, than I think there is something really wrong. We need a very good governor and David Paterson has been standing up and making a lot of the tough decisions.”
