Bloomberg Says Political Parties Do Have a Function

Yes, political parties do serve a function, Michael Bloomberg told reporters today, one day after meeting with Republican county chairman who’ll decide whether to allow him to run for re-election on the party’s line. “New York City tends to be a non-partisan town,” Bloomberg, a Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent said when asked by a reporter if political parties matter to voters. “They still provide a function, parties, but the answer to your question is, I think they are less important to most people than they were in the past.” Bloomberg was speaking at a press conference in midtown about changing traffic pattern along Broadway.
