CARMEN ORECHIO

A member of the first family of Nutley politics, Carmen Orechio was elected to the State Senate in 1973, defeating incumbent Michael Giuliano four years after he lost an Assembly race to Republican incumbent Ralph Caputo. A former Senate President, Orechio served for eighteen years. In 2008, he lost re-election as a Nutley Commissioner, a job he'd held since 1968.
