CLARENCE CASE

Clarence Case was a Republican State Senator from Somerset County from 1918 to 1929, and served as Senate President in 1920. He was appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court in 1929, and became Chief Justice in 1946. When the new state constitution disolved the court in 1948, Case was reappointed as an Associate Justice, where he served until his 1952 retirement. He was the uncle of U.S. Sen. Clifford Case and the great-great uncle of Hunterdon County Freeholder Matthew Holt.
