1 p.m. Writer Patty Johnson to speak at Muse Fuse, an artist "salon," held on 229 Leonard Street in Brooklyn.
 
7 p.m. Rick Moody and Matt Weiland will discuss their contributions to an essay collection about "America’s 50 units, State by State." At The Brooklyn Public Library, Central Branch, in Grand Army Plaza.  
 
7:30 p.m. The Shorty Awards Ceremony honors "the best producers of short content in 2008: 140 characters or less, on Twitter." Hosted by CNN’s Rick Sanchez, Shaquille O’Neal and MC Hammer are billed as special guests. At Galapagos on 16 Main Street and Water Streets, in Brooklyn. 

8 p.m. Real World: Brooklyn cast members Katelynn, Scott, and Baya participate in a screening of the first episode with G.L.B.T. Center and community. This event will feature a special appearance by Peppermint (featured in an early episode of the sires). At the G.L.B.T. Center, 208 West 13th Street. 

 
10 p.m. Novelist Rick Moody, Ventriloquist Carla Rhodes, comedian Eugene Mirman, and composer Daniel Felsenfeld join John Wesley Harding for "Cabinet of Wonders" to celebrate the release of his latest CD: "Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead." At Le Poisson Rouge on 158 Bleeker Street.
