Republican County chairmen who met with Michael Bloomberg last week walked away thinking the mayor had been supportive of John McCain's presidential campaign.
Bloomberg campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson later clarified: "He has supported John McCain. That's a little different than him saying he supported him for president."
One day after the February 25 meeting, Bloomberg denied telling the chairmen he voted for McCain, but praised the Republican presidential candidate.
