Republican gubernatorial candidate Christopher Christie has been endorsed by the Passaic County Regular Republican Organization and will run on their line in the June primary. Christie, the former U.S. Attorney, received the unanimous backing of the party's Executive Committee at a vote Wednesday evening.

GOP Strong, a rival Republican organization in Passaic, has not yet said if they would include a gubernatorial candidate on their ticket. One of the leaders of the other group, former Passaic County GOP Chairman Peter Murphy, has given his personal endorsement to Christie.

Passaic becomes Christie's sixth organization line, joining Burlington, Camden, Essex, Monmouth and Union counties.

"Our hard work throughout New Jersey and Passaic County is paying off and I am pleased that our message of real, permanent relief for taxpayers is resonating with voters," said Christie. "We will continue to talk to the citizens of New Jersey one-on-one about our plans to reduce taxes, stimulate our economy and get our state moving again."
