Cumberland County Republicans are expected to endorse former County Surrogate Art Marchand for assembly in the 3rd Legislative District at their convention tonight.
“He’s on the ballot for tonight’s convention, so he’s in,” said Cumberland County Republican Chairman Bob Greco.
Marchand has been flirting with a run since being knocked out of the surrogate’s office amid the Democratic wave in November that destroyed the Republicans’ entire ticket.
Also running for the party’s assembly nod are two candidates from neighboring Gloucester County, where the GOP is suffering a leadership crisis. They are Greenwich Township Mayor George Shivery and Robert Villare, a medical doctor.
