The date of the special election for Bronx borough president, made necessary Adolfo Carrion took a job in the Obama administration, will be April 21.
Since it’s a special election, candidates will run on party lines they create.
The candidates will include State Assemblyman Ruben Diaz Jr., whom the Bronx Democratic Party has endorsed, and City Councilman Joel Rivera, whose father, Jose, was ousted as the borough’s Democratic leader recently.
City Councilman Larry Seabrook is reportedly considering entering the race. City Councilwoman Helen Diane Foster has decided not to enter.
The winner will fill out the remainder of Adolfo’s term, and will be up for re-election later this year.
