Woodland Park Councilwoman Ruth Patterson announced today that she won't seek reelection after fifteen years on the Borough Council. A Democrat, She was first elected in 1994 and has twice served as Council President. Three of the six council seats will be up in November, with Democratic incumbents Tina Gatti and Dominick Di Domenico expected to seek re-election. A fourth seat could come up in January, if Council President Keith Kazmark wins his bid for Passaic County Clerk.

Democrats are favored in the borough formerly known as West Paterson. Last year, Democratic Mayor Pat Lepore, who is also a Passaic County Freeholder, was re-elected with 61% of the vote. In 2007, Democrats won three Council seats by about 500 votes.
