Some criticism of Bill Thompson’s mayoral campaign is surfacing this week.
After a press conference in Brooklyn this morning where Michael Bloomberg talked about the installation of new wind turbines, I asked City Councilwoman Letitia James, who said she's supporting Thompson, what she thinks of the campaign he's running.
“It’s certainly not the grassroots campaign I was anticipating,” she said, before adding, “But it’s still early.”
Yesterday, columnist Gerson Borrero – who often goes on NY1 to refer to the mayor as "Mikey" in an way that doesn't seem friendly – voiced concern that Thompson could fare worse against Bloomberg than Fernando Ferrer did four years ago.
Consultant Joe Mercurio has been muttering about Bloomberg's huge advantage for some time, and meanwhile, there's been a palpable lack of enthusiasm for Thompson from some Democrats.
