Hours after Joe Biden told the Today Show that he “wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places now,” Michael Bloomberg demonstrated his willingness to do just that.
Seeking to downplay Biden’s concerns, Bloomberg went as far to ask reporters to film him arriving at City Hall by train.
At a press conference at 1 Police Plaza, the mayor and city officials gave updates on swine flu. They said that there are 49 confirmed cases in the city right now, along with 16 other probable cases. Later, Bloomberg was asked to respond to Biden’s comments.
“I feel perfectly safe on the subway,” he said, while going out of his way not to criticize Biden directly. Bloomberg said Biden was “right” about expressing concern over the issue.
