Cuomo Will Address GNYHA Tuesday

POUGHKEEPSIE—Attorney General Andrew Cuomo will be speaking tomorrow to the annual meeting of the Greater New York Hospital Association, the organization just announced. It’s the same association that, along with SEIU 1199, ran scathing ads against David Paterson earlier this year.
Cuomo has used his position as attorney general to highlight issues that resonate statewide—open government, health insurance rates, paring local governmental structures—and at the moment has a spectacularly high approval rating, especially in relation to Paterson.
In all, it’s a record that would probably serve him well if he ended up running for governor. And talking to GNYHA will give him an opportunity to ingratiate himself with a constituency that is none too pleased with the current governor.
“Our understanding is the attorney general will only be addressing health care issues of relevance to his office,” said Brian Conway, a GNYHA spokesman.
