Veteran reporter Jim Goodman, who spent thirty years covering the statehouse for the Trenton Times before his retirement in 2006, will become the Republican nominee for State Assembly in the 14th district. Goodman agreed today to challenge incumbents Linda Greenstein (D-Plainsboro) and Wayne DeAngelo (R-Hamilton) for seats where the GOP had struggled to find candidates in time for their county convention last week. He will replace Rob Calabro, a Hamilton restaurant owner.

Goodman will run with 21-year-old Brian Hackett, the President of the College of New Jersey Republican Club.

"Jim Goodman makes this race interesting," said Wally Edge, the editor of PolitickerNJ.com. "I'm glad he picked today to make his announcement."
