SARATOGA SPRINGS—The early returns are in, showing Jim Tedisco with a slight lead, but some people here at the victory party for his campaign for Congress are thinking things might come down to the absentee ballots. Which could take a while.
I found Jasper Nolan, the Saratoga County Republican chair, and asked him how this was going to play out.
"We're hoping Jimmy can pull it out in the end," he said. "But there's about 10,000 absentee ballots coming in."
Earlier today, election lawyer John Ciampola obtained an injunction to place them under lock and key until a court hearing can take place on April 6. Bob Brehm at the State Board of Elections passed the suit, below.
Now I'm told that with 68 percent reporting, it's neck-and-neck.
