Long Hill Mayor George Vitureira will run for the Assembly in District 21,according to Morris County Republican Chairman John Sette, but Vitureira tonight said news out of Union County presents a different development and he must weigh his options.

Earlier this evening, Settetold PolitickerNJ.com thathe gave Vitureira a letter authorizing him to file before he knew Nancy Munoz was in the GOP Primary.He did not know if the Union CountyRepublicans' formal decision this evening to backthe widowof Assemblywoman Eric Munoz (R-Summit) would alter Vitureira's plans.

“I’ll go by his wishes,” said Sette. “He threw the Democrats in Long Hill out and I think he’s got a good shot.”

The chairmansimilarly authorized incumbent Assemblyman Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield).

Vitureira told PolitickerNJ.com that he intends to file to run on Monday morning- deadline day. But that was before he learned that Chairman Phil Morin and other Union County GOP officials tonight endorsed a ticket consisting of Bramnick and Nancy Munoz,whose husband who died last week after heart surgery.

"This presents a new development," said the mayor, who will make a decision as of noon Monday.

Sette, who has four Morris County towns in the Union County-dominant 21st Legislative District, says he believes it’s time for his county to field a primary candidate.

“We deserve representation,” said the county chairman. “We’re going to try to get George elected.”

The chairman said this is about securing respect for his county in the 21st District.

“I loved Eric Munoz,” said Sette. “He was a fabulous legislator. Doc was a super, super guy.”
