A Contender for Mondello’s Job Plans a Seminar on How Republicans Should Communicate

ALBANY—Amid calls for state Republican Party chairman Joe Mondello to step down, one of his potential successors will travel to Albany to hold a seminar on online campaigning.

Henry Wojtaszek, chairman of the Niagara County Republican Committee, will conduct the seminar in two weeks' time. It will include speakers addressing topics such as Web design and online voter outreach.

"This is exactly the kind of training that our elected officials, candidates and local organizations need to effectively communicate with the public.  It is the right idea at the right time, and it will make Republicans more effective in making government work for the families and businesses of this state," Mondello said in a statement announcing the conference.

Wojtaszek has not publicly criticized Mondello, but sources say he is interested in the chairman position.

Mondello is on the record saying he plans to run for reelection as chairman in September.
