Here’s John Luisi, a Democrat running for borough president on Staten Island, who is positioning himself as a crusader against the term-limits extension by portraying the current borough president as an entrenched incumbent.
Luisi launched his campaign over the weekend with this one-minute web video (it has a weird, bubbly musical score).
In the video, Luisi complains that Jim Molinaro, who was deputy borough president before he became borough president, has been in borough hall for “two decades.”
On Luisi’s web site, the first item on the list of “Issues & Ideas” is term limits, where he writes, “I voted for term limits. Twice. Then the Mayor and the City Council came along with a different idea – deny the people of New York their voice and change the law against their will. Now there is something we can do about it. We can enforce term limits ourselves by simply voting the incumbents out.”
