In this filing period, Bloomberg has spent $15,636,3861.51, according to his campaign. That's on top of the more than $3 million he spent in the last filing period.

In response to those figures, Thompson spokeswoman Anne Fenton emailed to say, “Mike Bloomberg is spending almost 19 million dollars to try to convince New Yorkers that they need 4 more years of higher taxes, rising unemployment, record homelessness and overcrowded schools. Bill Thompson is building a network of supporters in all 5 boroughs because he is the candidate who understands the unprecedented challenges facing all New Yorkers.”

Bloomberg's campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson defended the spending, saying "voters are responding favorably" to their message, and that the campaign is not taking anything for granted.

Bloomberg's expenses include wages for Patrick Van Keerbergen, an aide who worked for Democratic Assemblyman Brian Kavanagh and helped re-elect Sheldon Silver. Plus there's a $362.64 meal at Morton's of Brooklyn, a well-known restaurant that treats Bloomberg well.
