The out-of-power State Senate Republicans are apparently betting that some of their Democratic counterparts, with the help of YouTube, will serve as the best advertisements for the idea of returning them to majority control.
Here’s a clip, posted by NYSSenate2009, of State Senator Martin Dilan, a Democrat from Brooklyn, admitting that the payroll tax in the M.T.A. bailout legislation has no sunset provision. The headline on the video is “Senator Dilan Admits Payroll Tax Won’t Go Away.”
In another clip, Senator Ruben Diaz Sr. “Explains How the Four Amigos Got Bridge Tolls Off the Table.” In it, Diaz tells Republican Senate Leader Dean Skelos he's proud to help him "clean the mess," and explains he'll stay in Albany, instead of going home that night, "so I could collect the $160 tomorrow, like everybody else" a reference to the per diem expenses lawmakers are given for travel expenses.
The videos are posted by "NYSSenate2009," which, Senate Republican spokesman John McArdle confirms, is the Senate Republicans.
