Two Promoted To Fill Parker’s Reduced Role

ALBANY—State Senator Kevin Parker’s legal troubles have meant promotion for two of his colleagues to “keep the conference’s agenda moving forward.”
Majority Leader Malcolm Smith immediately stripped Parker–who is facing a felony charge–of his leadership positions. In a statement issued this morning, Smith announced that State Senator Antoine Thompson will serve as the acting majority whip and State Senator Darrel Aubertine will take over as the acting head of the Energy Committee. Both will continue as the heads, respectively, of the Agriculture and Environmental Conservation Committees.
“Senators Aubertine and Thompson have shown great leadership within our conference. Drawing on the skills and expertise they have both demonstrated, I am confident they will handle these additional responsibilities thoroughly,” Smith said.
