Away We Go (in general release next month) is a sharp, funny, deeply engaging road movie written by McSweeney’s editor Dave Eggers and his wife, the novelist Vendela Vida, and directed by Sam Mendes.

Maya Rudolph and John Krasinssi play the road-tripping couple (you know them from SNL and The Office, respectively). Maggie Gyllenhaal, Josh Hamilton, Allison Janney, and Catherine O’Harathe play the friends and relatives they meet along the way. It’s a spectacular cast, and watching the actors sink their teeth into the pitch-perfect dialogue is a real pleasure. So far, it looks like the summer’s most delightful surprise.
