Bloomberg Calls Ed Improvements the Best Thing Ever; Says He Won’t Broker the Senate

Michael Bloomberg announced this morning that public-school graduation rates have, for the first time, hit the 60 percent mark.
At a press conference in City Hall announcing that and other graduation statistics, Bloomberg said the figures have “gone off the charts “ and the “best thing this city has ever seen.”
At the event, he brushed aside questions of what he’d do if the State Senate doesn’t renew mayoral control of schools by the July 1 deadline.
“Nobody knows what would happen,” he said, before noting that you “shouldn’t spend time thinking about it.”
He also said he rebuffed a county leader’s offer to help try to break the stalemate in the State Senate.
