Felder Supports Governor’s Threat to Member Items

Minutes after David Paterson held a press conference in Albany and said “The member item process is over,” I ran into City Councilman Simcha Felder, an unabashed advocate of the member-item process.

Felder, standing across the street from City Hall, said, “Anything and everything that the governor has the power to do to get the Senate to act on important legislation, he should do. It’s a good thing.”

Felder tried unsuccessfully to unseat State Senator Kevin Parker last year, and declined to comment on Parker’s latest gaffe.

But Felder, dressed in a white shirt with two buttons undone, and with a tie hanging around his neck, said the more outrageous the Senate acts, the more “it makes me look good.” Felder Supports Governor’s Threat to Member Items
