Here’s a flier announcing Michael Bloomberg has been invited to a rally being organized by Independence Party activist Lenora Fulani. It’s taking place in Harlem this Thursday at 6 p.m.

Bloomberg, however, won’t be attending. A campaign spokeswoman, Jill Hazelbaker, emailed me to say, “While the Mayor is thankful for the support of the Independence party he has a previous commitment that evening and will not be attending.”

Tom Robbins notes Fulani also recorded a voice message encouraging people to attend the event. In it, she says Independence helped elect “the country’s two most independent leaders: Barack Obama and Mike Bloomberg.”

Robbins also notes that if Bloomberg made financial contributions to the party, they won’t be reported until the next regularly scheduled disclosure deadline for the city Campaign Finance Board, which is on July 15.
