One week after the Democratic primary for Hightstown Borough Council ended in a tie, the local Democratic organization picked newcomer Dimitri Musing as their candidate in the fall election after Councilman David Schneider withdrew his name from consideration. Musing and Schneider each received 88 votes in the June 2 primary. Schneider said he wanted to unite the party, and announced that he will remain president of the local Democratic Club.

Musing will now run with Councilman Larry Quattrone, who finished first in the primary with 110 votes. A fourth Democrat, Steven Kirson, ran eight votes behind Musing and Schneider.

The Republican candidates are Esther Velazquez and Skye Gilmartin.
