Representatives of the Hudson County Board of Elections will count the roughly 150 provisional ballots in the Hoboken mayoral election at 10 a.m. on Friday morning.

"Friday is the big day, I will take it from there," said 4th Ward Councilwoman Dawn Zimmer, who at present trails At-Large Councilman Peter Cammarano by 67 votes.

Having won the machine balloting only to fall behindafter the clerk considered absentee ballots, Zimmer allies are already starting to mobilize for a legal fight in the event their candidate demands a recount once the provisionals are counted.

Anchored by his former boss, elections law heavyweight Angelo Genova of Genova, Burns and Vernoia, Cammarano is overseeing similar preparations.

The Jersey Journal is reporting this morning that an additional 79 absentee ballots apparently "discovered in a box under a table" at the Board of Elections Office will also be counted on Friday.
