Last month, The Observer reported that NBC Universal was working on developing a daily lifestyle show which could, as soon as this fall, replace 5 p.m. newscasts at NBC stations around the country.
Today, NBC made it official.
According to the press release, the daily, hour-long “daily information, lifestyle and entertainment show” will debut on September 14th. Locally, the show will replace the 5 p.m. news, currently anchored by Sue Simmons and David Ushery.
“LX New York will offer viewers a fresh alternative to the traditional local programs found at 5 p.m.,” read today’s release. “The show will feature a colorful mix of local stories, celebrity guests, in-studio experts, cooking segments and irreverent fun. With an energetic cast of characters, LX New York will deliver the latest information on fashion, the arts, travel, and pop culture in a fast-paced entertaining hour.”
