Poll: Bloomberg Leads Among Democrats, Voters Say His Spending is ‘Overkill’

Michael Bloomberg is leading his Democratic opponent, Bill Thompson, even among Democrats, and splits the support of African-American voters, according to a Quinnipiac poll that came out earlier this morning.
A majority of people polled say Bloomberg’s spending doesn’t given him an unfair advantage in the election, but do say that it is “overkill.” So go figure.
The poll, conducted among 1,396 registered voters, also showed that 62 percent would prefer to invite Bloomberg to a July 4 picnic, compared to only 28 percent for Thompson.
The findings here seem to differ somewhat from the results from a New York Times/Cornell/New York 1 News poll last week, which said New Yorkers were looking for someone new as mayor.
