Suozzi Laments Albany Sinecures

ALBANY—Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi is at the Capitol today, and spoke with a gaggle of reporters after meeting with State Senators Dean Skelos, John Sampson and Paterson aide Larry Schwartz to talk about the important bills “that need to be resolved in a timely basis” for local governments to function.
Suozzi, who ran an unsuccessful gubernatorial primary in 2006 on a “fix Albany” platform, said he didn’t think “anybody could have imagined how bad things are right now in Albany.”
“The concept behind Fix Albany was the elected officials in Albany were not sufficiently concerned about the people that they represented, because there was a 98 percent re-election rate,” Suozzi said.
