Tonight, the Working Families Party is meeting and could vote on a mayoral endorsement.
A source there said the mayor’s people are “pushing, very very hard for an outright endorsement,” believing they can win it, and not just block Bill Thompson from getting it.
Bloomberg spokesman Howard Wolfson said the onus is on Thompson to win the endorsement, and he did his part to raise those expectations.
“Bill Thompson ran on the WFP line in 2001 and 2005. If he doesn’t get the line tonight it will be a huge blow,” Wolfson said.
One labor leader, Stuart Appelbaum of RWDSU, said, “The question isn’t whether Bloomberg can get the endorsement, but whether he can prevent Bill Thompson from getting the endorsement.
