Bloomberg Suggests Thompson Made Expensive Commitments to DC37

Michael Bloomberg said he “will not make irresponsible promises to win an endorsement.”

Bloomberg made the comment to reporters when he was asked about DC 37’s endorsement of Bill Thompson, which is being made public today. The Bloomberg campaign has suggested that Thompson must have given away the store in order to win the union’s support, and Howard Wolfson has demanded that Thompson and the union make public a questionnaire that the union had both candidates fill out.

The union had endorsed Bloomberg in 2005 but parted with him because of his extension of term limits and use of outside contractors which the mayor said saves money.

Bloomberg went on to say “members of DC 37 have done a good job, a great job.” Bloomberg was speaking at Manhattan Borough Community College discussing a plan to expand access to community college.
