Former Passaic Councilman Gerardo Fernandez was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison today for lying to a grand jury

Former Passaic Councilman Gerardo Fernandez was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison today for lying to a grand jury that was investigating several Passaic elected officials for corruption.

Fernandez, 52, was convicted of perjury in June, but was acquitted on one count of obstruction. His case is tied to the probe that took down Mayor Samuel Rivera and councilmen Jonathan Soto and Marcellus Jackson.
