As he reveled in a second place finish in the race for public advocate that will put him in a run off against Councilman Bill de Blasio, Mark Green urged supporters of candidates who didn't make the cut to join "the Green team."

Norman Siegel didn't seem too excited at the idea, and sounded dejected when I spoke to him late this morning. He finished fourth behind Green, DeBlasio and Councilman Eric Gioia.

"I'm not sure what if anything I'll do with regard to that question," Siegel told me. "I have a brief that's due about the slush fund in the appellate division on Friday, so for at least the next day or two I need to focus on that brief."

The runoff will be Sept. 29.
