It’s been a few years since Dave Chappelle abruptly stopped production on his hit sketch series Chappelle’s Show, but his fans have never stopped missing the edgy and hilarious program that regularly crossed the line before gleefully stomping on it. If you need a refresher course on what made the show so great, Comedy Central has compiled some of the comedian’s funniest hip-hop-themed moments from the show.
A big fan of hip-hop, Chappelle often booked artists to perform on the series whom he’d also skewer in some of the skits. Lil Jon was a favorite target—we particularly like the trippy “Lil Jon in Love,” co-starring Susan Sarandon—but Wu-Tang Clan, Redman and the Ying Yang Twins are represented, too (even Tupac, deceased, isn’t safe from a little ribbing). What would Chappelle have made of Jay-Z’s new album or Kanye at the VMAs, we wonder? We’ll just have to make do with seeing some of his best work here.
