Bill Thompson is criticizing Michael Bloomberg’s proposal to have drivers find and pay for parking spots using their cell phones.
“He’s trying to recreate something he hasn’t done in eight years,” Thompson told reporters while campaigning in Sunnyside this morning.
Thompson said the mayor is presenting his plan as a way for motorists to avoid getting parking tickets, which runs counter to how the administration has approached the situation previously.
“[Parking tickets] are all about revenue generation,” said Thompson. “New Yorkers are being treated like mini ATM’s and it’s wrong.”
Later, when discussing the mayor’s race, Thompson said, “There’s definitely enough time to win this.”
