Attorney General Andrew Cuomo is in Washington today. You might not have known that, except that today his office took the unorthodox step of putting out a public schedule.
PUBLIC SCHEDULE FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL ANDREW M. CUOMO
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2009
Attorney General Cuomo is in Washington, D.C.
1:15PM Attends meeting with President Obama, Cabinet members, and Congressional leaders regarding financial regulatory reform
2:00PM Attends President Obama’s remarks on financial regulatory reform
As Jimmy Vielkind points out, these are often “FOR PLANNING PURPOSES.” But this one was “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.”
Apparently, the attorney general is meeting with a number of important White House officials, including that oh-so-difficult-to-get-ahold-of Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner.
Mr. Cuomo seems to enjoy better relations with the White House than Governor David Paterson, who was reportedly dissuaded by the White House from seeking re-election so that another, stronger Democratic candidate might pursue the nomination with relative ease. Mr. Cuomo is planning to run for attorney general.
As for the governor, he is “in New York City and has no public schedule.”
