N.J. dislikes big field, but doesn’t want to make ballot access tougher

There are twelve candidates running for governor this year — all white men — and 66% of likely New Jersey voters would prefer if they had fewer choices. But New Jerseyans aren't inclined to support making it tougher for a candidate to get on the ballot: by a 51%-49% margin, voters oppose increasing the number of signatures to get on the ballot to 5,000; they would oppose increasing the number of signatures needed on a petition to 10,000 by a 66%-34% margin.
