Betsy Gotbaum, who has said that the budget at her public advocate’s office was slashed by 40 percent because of her opposition to extending term limits, is introducing a bill to prevent further reductions.
According to a bill introduced today, the funding for the public advocate’s office will be “not less than nine thousands of one percent of the net total expense budget of the city.” Currently, the level of funding is at the discretion of the mayor and the Council.
The bill also includes funding formulas for the conflict of interest board and the civilian complaint review board.
