New Yorker to get regional EPA post

The White House is expected to announce that Judith Enck, New York's Deputy Secretary of the Environment, will be the new Regional Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Alan Steinberg, who held the post during the Bush administration, left in January.

The Regional EPA job, which manages the New York, New Jersey and Puerto Rico region, has traditionally been held by New Jersey. U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) pushed hard for a New Yorker — an argument that held more weight after New Jerseyan Lisa Jackson was named EPA Administrator.
