ALBANY—David Paterson said he’s getting along fine with John Sampson, the Democratic conference leader, with whom he is butting heads over a deficit.
“I don’t think that Senator Sampson, who’s the conference leader, is a lightweight,” Paterson told reporters after an economic development announcement in Niagara County. “He’s a friend of mine outside the process. I think he’s doing the best he can trying to get the sides to come to the table.”
Fred Dicker this morning reported that there has been lots of personal acrimony between Paterson and legislative leaders. Paterson denied this.
‘That article said that everybody called everybody these different names,” Paterson said. “There hasn’t been that kind of acrimony. What there has been is a disagreement of which course to take.”
